History:

Less than one hour from London. The Hellfire Caves is like nowhere you have ever been before! Built in the 17th Century you travel underground deep into the Chiltern hills. Will you be brave enough to explore the maze of caverns deep underground.

Since early times there had been an open-cast quarry on the side of the hill for mining chalk for the foundations of houses in the village and for roads. In around 1748 2nd Baronet, set about extending this quarry in order to relieve serious local unemployment. The Dashwood Mausoleum was added a few years later.We are not entirely sure of the reasoning behind his decision to dig a long winding tunnel a quarter of a mile into the hill with all sorts of chambers and divided passages leading off it and a huge room half way down. One can only presume it was an element of mischief and a fun project to undertake. The design is clearly symbolic and is thought to have something to do with the Eleusinian mysteries of ancient Greece. He was no doubt inspired by his travels on his Grand Tour when he would have visited other similar caverns and tunnels.

There have however always been tales of ghosts inhabiting the Caves ever since they were dug.. This location has a very long dark  sinister history attached to the caves. Is Benjamin Franklin still here in spirit does he soul still lurk behind the doors? Does the young girl  Suki still walk the caves. The unfortunte girl had been lured down to the caves  to a man she had fallen in love with unfortunley the man did not have good intentions and this led to her death at the hands of several men. Will you find her where she has been seen in the Banquetting Hall?  A visitor to the caves caught a woman in white in film in one of the alcoves in this room. Upon closer inspection, it matches Suki’s description perfectly.

Investigation Includes:

When you arrive, you will be greeted by one of our team and you will be placed into a small group. Once introductions have been made and the team have run though the health and safety. You will explore different parts of the building throughout the evening with your team member. You will get the chance to conduct some amazing experiments such as Ouija Boards, Table Tipping, Glass Moving vigils and our up-to-date ghost hunting equipment. We will be using the most active areas of the venue throughout the night and you will be guided through this terrifying process by our friendly and capable team. Included near the end of your evening you will be able to go off and explore for an hour using what equipment you would like. Do you dare to explore the unknown?
